Résumé

[The Hebrew coins of Ancient Palestine.] The Jews that inhabited Ancient Palestine between IV century B.C. and II century A.D. minted coins that had some special characteristics that allow us to call them Hebrew coins. We only consider as Hebrew coins those that were minted by Jewish authorities with the purpose they were used by Jewish population. These coins, that are usually divided in five periods (Yehud coins, Hasmonean coins, Herodian coins, First Jewish Revolt coins and Bar Kochba coins) contributed, during the so called Second Temple Period, to the development of the jewish identity as a nation different from the rest of the neighboring nations, and to the spreading of such identity among the Jewish population located throughout all Palestine.
