Las monedas asmoneas (135-37 a.C.)

Résumé


De los cinco periodos de monedas hebreas de la Antigua Palestina, el segundo corresponde a las pequeñas piezas de bronce y plomo que acuñaron los dinastas asmoneos entre el 135-37 a.C. Estas monedas tienen leyendas escritas en paleohebreo, arameo y griego en las que se
dan los nombres de los gobernantes asmoneos y sus títulos de sumo sacerdote o rey. Sus tipos, en gran parte copiados de las monedas helenísticas, sufrieron un proceso en el que perdieron su posible
simbolismo pagano para tomar uno neutro o judío. Un reducido grupo de tipos, totalmente judíos, se representaron por primera vez en la numismática hebrea en estas monedas.
